There comes a time in some people's lives when they look in the mirror and are unhappy with what they see. The skin may look sallow, be sun damaged, or lines are appearing and not going away. There may be scarring, or perhaps they just want a brighter, firmer look.
Now there is an effective, almost painless way to rejuvenate and tighten the skin, without a surgical procedure.
Exoderm is a well established deep peeling method that has been shown to exhibit excellent results in the treatment of:
- Wrinkles
- Cutaneous pigmentation such as freckles, solar lentigo
- Acne scars
- Deep dermal pits
- Pre-cancerous lesions, such as solar keratosis
Exoderm treatment removes dead skin and stimulates the rebuilding of collagen fibres, giving the face a more youthful and bright appearance.
The Exoderm procedure takes approximately one hour. A specially formulated liquid is applied to the skin, which removes and liquefy the top layers. There is a slight tingling and burning sensation during treatment, therefore a light sedative is given to remove discomfort.
The face is then covered with a zinc oxide based plastic tape and the patient is sent home to rest. The patient returns the following day and the tape is removed. An antiseptic powder is applied, which reacts with the fluid content of the skin, to harden into a protective covering 'mask'. The mask remains on the skin for 8 days, protecting the newly growing skin from infection. On the 8th day, the mask is removed.
Results can be seen immediately when the mask is taken off, the skin will be renewed and glowing but a little sensitive, just like baby skin. The face may still be slightly swollen and red, but this will disappear over 4-6 weeks.
Although results are immediate and one can see that lines and wrinkles are removed, the effect of the treatment continues over the months to come, as the collagen is rebuilt and the face lifts and tightens even more.
