Hair Restoration Surgery
At the Aesthetic Beauty Centre, we understand the importance of looking good and feeling great and how hair loss can adversely affect your self confidence and subsequently reduce your self esteem.
The development of balding areas is unwelcome and can, at times be extremely stressful. Prominent hair loss can equally affect men and women, not only physically, but psychologically. While hair loss is tragic for men, it can be even more problematic in women. Females often go to great lengths to attempt to camouflage or mask the condition.
Hair grafts are re-introduced to the balding area one-by-one, to provide a more natural hair line than was previously available from other available hair restoration treatments. Punch grafting produces inconsistent results and often leaves an unnatural hair re-growth.
What Conditions / Areas Can benefit from Hair Restoration Surgery?
Male Pattern Baldness
The permanent effects of male pattern baldness can now greatly benefit from hair transplantation. Future hair loss can additionally, be prevented with the use of prescribed medicines such as Minoxidil & 5HT inhibitors.
Facial areas following Face lift / Scarring
Hair transplant surgery is sometimes required to replace the hair that is lost following surgical face lifts. Brow lift procedures may cause a loss of hair behind the natural 'facial frame'. Hair grafting can be performed into scar tissue to replace hair that has been lost due to scarring / previous cosmetic surgery procedures.
Hair Transplantation can be performed on the eyebrows, in order to cover areas affected by scarring and enhance / restore the natural contour of the eyebrow arch where thinning has occurred.
Moustache & Beard Area
Facial areas such as the moustache, sideburns and beard can greatly benefit from hair transplantation. The effects of facial hair and beard loss can be significantly reduced, as can the signs of previous trauma, such as that caused by burns and facial surgery.
What's the first step to hair restoration?
Prior to pursuing hair restoration surgery, patients must first have their donor area evaluated. The confidential consultation with Dr. Dutta provides the ideal opportunity for this evaluation. During consultation, the procedure will be described in detail and you will be invited to ask any treatment related questions you may have.
The donor area, located along the back and sides of the head, will be evaluated for the procedure. This donor hair is resistant to the hormone that causes baldness in men, so there needs to be enough of it. The surgeon removes a small section of the donor area and separates it into individual follicles. Follicles are individually re-introduced to the recipient site at strategic angles, and in locations based on visibility of the area, to create a natural result.
Hair transplantation is performed under local anaesthesia and can last about 10 hours. The healing process will begin soon after the surgery is complete. The area may scab a little, but would shed the scab in about a week of development. The transplanted hair shaft may also fall out, but the follicles remain in the recipient site and enter a resting phase, preparing for future growth. Transplanted hair retains a natural look, as each hair is individually placed, resulting in more even, and consistent coverage.
We have clinics in London, Sunderland and Newcastle. Sunderland is popular for non-surgical treatments such as Botox and fillers, whilst Newcastle centre acts as their principal, fully functional operating centre which undertakes every procedure imaginable from liposuction and face-lifts to hair transplants and breast augmentation. Finally, London is where the revolutionary VASER and body sculpting procedures are practised, under Dr Dutta's watchful eye.
Qualified doctors/nurses will discuss the procedure before any treatment, explaining any possible side effects.
