Naturally, the demand for sumptuous lips has increased in recent years and considering lips start to lose their plumpness when women reach the tender age of 30 – it’s no surprise, more and more women are looking for different ways to enhance their pout.

However, before undertaking any procedure it is incredibly important you understand the pros and cons of both. To help you make your decision we have outlined the benefits and disadvantages of both types of procedure and created a short summary of the different treatments available to you.
Surgery VS Non-Surgical Treatments
Permalip is the only surgical treatment we carry out. The procedure takes under an hour, is relatively incomplex and offers permanent results after a one-time surgery. Perma Implants are essentially unnoticeable while eating and and also feel and look very natural. The implants can be removed with ease, so the surgery is entirely reversible. But, as with any surgical operation, risks and complications are possible. You also won’t be able to smoke or carry out any vigorous exercise for upto 2 weeks after surgery. Additionally you’ll need to take three days off work (minimum) – and that varies from client to client.
The advantage of non-surgical procedures is that you don’t have to worry about the risks that come with undergoing surgery. There is a quick one-day recovery for injections
which is considerably shorter in comparison. And, if it’s the first time you’re undergoing lip treatment, you can treat it as a trial run before committing to permanent enhancement. Temporary fillers only last upto a year – so you will have to revisit the centre regularly in order to maintain your desired look if you choose against the implants.
A common side effect of both type of procedures is that patients may feel slight discomfort and swelling for a couple of weeks. If you have a special event coming up we advice you plan to have the treatment well in advance as you’ll need to leave plenty time for any bruising to subside.
Summary of Treatments
This revolutionary treatment is permanent, so gives you the opportunity to improve the shape and volume of your lips in one simple treatment. The surgery will take under an hour and recovery can be variable. Risks include; an allergic reaction to implants or a reaction to the local anaesthesia, bleeding from an implant that hardens and, in very rare cases, nerve damage. Swelling and bruising are temporary side effects.
Belotero is a dermal filler and treatment for lip augmentation that integrates with your skin and adapts to your facial contours, plumping and adding volume. The procedure takes 45 mins and no recovery period is needed. The treatment is impermanent and usually lasts 6 months. Swelling and redness are temporary side effects.
Juvederm dermal filler is a long-lasting gel that, once injected into the skin with an ultra-fine needle, lifts and adds volume to the areas being treated. It is of non-animal origin and the molecule is highly biocompatible. The procedure usually takes 30 mins and the recovery period is 24 hours. The treatment is impermanent and lasts from 6 -9 months. Swelling and bruising are temporary side effects.
Restylane and Perlane are injected under the surface of the skin, with a fine needle, giving natural volume to the treated area. Restylane is another option that is not extracted from animals. The procedure takes around 30mins and the recovery period is 24 hours. The treatment remains for around 6 months. Some patients experience mild discomfort.
The Teosyal range consists of several monophasic hyaluronic acid based products of non-animal origin, which are highly biocompatible, offering patients immediate and long-lasting results.The procedure typically takes between 20 and 30 minutes and the recovery period is 24 hours. After treatment, the injected site may show a little redness and swelling. In limited cases there be slight bruising.
