A Day in the life of a Cosmetic Treatment Patient

Posted by Aesthetic Beauty Centre on 30 March 2016

a day in the life of a cosmetic treatment patient

At 54 years old, working full time with three children and three grandchildren, I don't have much time to myself. Every day that I looked in the mirror I could see the signs of a busy life. Age was creeping up on me.

I had heard of Dr. Ashish Dutta at Aesthetic Beauty Centre in Sunderland, so I decided to pay him a visit.

After a very friendly and honest consultation, Dr. Dutta advised me what procedure would be the best for me. He took my eyelids and raised them with his fingers whilst I looked in the mirror to show me how he could give me a much fresher appearance.

I have to say, even at that point, I could see what he would change. No drooping eyelids. So I went ahead with all the questions, taking into consideration my pain threshold is very low, and he explained the procedure to me along with what the results would be. So I agreed to go ahead. At this point I was only thinking about the end result. I booked a date to have the procedure done. As the weeks went by I began to think, am I doing the right thing? It was so important to me to feel better about myself.

I consulted my family to get their views and they said if it makes me feel good then do it.

As my procedure date came closer, I began to have moments of doubt.

I luckily had my pre-surgery check in preparation with Dr. Dutta, for which I had written a list of questions to ask. At the consultation he took a before picture and talked me through the procedure. We discussed my expectations, at which point he said I would look much fresher and feel better about myself.

My questions:

Q. Will it hurt? (as I was very nervous).

A. Most patients cope fine with only paracetamol.

I was fine with this.

Q. How long will it take?

A. About 2 hours maximum.

Still ok with this.

Q. Can I be sedated because of my nerves?

A. Yes mild sedation is normal, however local anaesthetic can be used if preferred.

So I had a choice, great.

Q. How long will I take to heal?

A. About 10 days.

Fine, I can put some holidays in at work.

There was no real reason, other than myself to stop me having this done. On the day of the surgery I was very nervous and at the point of cancelling the whole thing and then I thought, “Do this for me”. I need my confidence back and to feel good about myself. So off we went to the clinic in Newcastle. Upon arrival, Dr. Dutta met with me and made me most welcome and reassured me I was doing the right thing.

He drew lines on the areas he was going to focus on and I was the taken to a lovely room to change. I was visited by the nurses who were looking after me, they could see I was quite nervous but put my mind at ease straight away. After I had local anaesthetic around my eyes, I laid listening to classical music. I was very relaxed and aware of Dr. Dutta’s soft humming occasionally!

"I was made to feel very special"

After the surgery I rested for a while, had tea and toast and was made to feel very special. The whole experience from my first consultation, to surgery, along with my aftercare exceeded my expectations. I was given a mirror after surgery and saw just what I expected to see. I had done my research and took on board what Dr. Dutta said it would look like, so I prepared myself for the next 10 days recovery, hoping to see a noticeable difference each day.

Although I expected to be in a lot of pain, I only needed two paracetemol throughout the next 10 days, I could not believe it.

Day One

Bruising is worse but no pain, Dr. Dutta gave me a detailed list of things to do and not to do, which I followed.

Day Two

Bruising still coming out but I can see the shape Dr. Dutta has created.

Day Three

Pretty much the same but still no pain at all.

Day Four

I can now see progress and the difference he has made.

Day Five

Wow, really taking shape, stitches feel a bit tight and itchy but still no pain

Day Six

My appointment to have my stitches out and I couldn’t wait. So off I went and in minutes they were out, which was a relief.

"This has boosted my confidence and made me feel so much better about myself"

Five days later I had a further appointment for a final check up, everything healing fine. In the meantime I returned to work with minor bruising that I covered easily. My colleagues could not believe the difference it had made to my appearance. I knew I looked and felt fresher around my eyes, both top and bottom.

I am so proud of myself for going ahead with this procedure. It was a big step for me to take. This has boosted my confidence and made me feel so much better about myself. I have to say the care prior to surgery and the after care I received from Dr. Ash Dutta and his staff was second to none. I would not be comfortable with anyone else other than him and his team. Patients also have a direct line to Dr. Dutta 24/7, which is a great comfort.

Overall a fantastic customer experience. Now what's next on my list!
