Body Sculpting With Laser Laserlipolysis
As more women and men want to look and feel better about themselves, body contouring and liposculpture continue to grow in popularity, making liposuction one of the most popular cosmetic surgery treatments performed today Traditional liposuction has been performed for a number of years. This provided patients with a means to physically remove unwanted fat deposits from areas such as the abdomen (Tummy) and the thighs. This procedure traditionally involved the use of large instruments ( Hollow metal tubes) called cannulas, that were inserted into the desired area, with suction applied. The fat cells were permanently removed from the patient. The moderate size of the cannula meant that patients would require extended recovery times and suffer severe swelling and bruising following the procedure. This procedure was further refined to vibration assisted liposculpture, that utilise much smaller instruments that vibrate to remove the fat cells. The advantages of liposculpture include much less swelling and bruising and significantly reduced recovery times. The smaller size of the instruments used meant that the procedure could be performed on smaller deposits of fatty tissue that is more resilient to exercise or diet. Medical laser systems have been widely utilised in cosmetic procedures for a number of years, to perform a number of cosmetic/surgical procedures. Treatments such as tattoo removal and skin resurfacing have been safely performed for a number of years. Lasers in surgery have been used by surgeons for some time, as they a precise incision, with little or no blood loss. The next generation of fatty tissue reduction has developed, utilising a laser system for combating cellulite. This revolutionary procedure is based on an advanced technique for the reduction of the adipose (Fatty) tissue localised in those areas of the body where diets and physical exercise are normally ineffective. Laserlipolysis is an alternative to vibration assisted liposculpture, that is used all over the world and is based on a treatment 'laser-assisted liposculpture'. The Smartlipo laser causes the membrane of adipose cells to break, transforming them into an oily substance which is then absorbed and naturally eliminated by the body. Laser Lipolysis provides an effective means of reducing the fatty tissue deposits in much smaller areas, due to the size of the instruments used (Typically 1 - 2 mm in diameter), without the side effects associated with more aggressive surgical procedures. How is Laser Lipolysis Performed? A very small cannula, similar in size to a needle, approximately 1.0 mm to 2.0 mm in diameter containing a laser fiber is inserted into the skin. The needle is gently moved back and forth delivering the laser's energy to the fat cells, causing them to rupture and easily drain away. The laser energy also interacts with the dermis, resulting in collagen shrinkage and skin tightening. Due to the small size of the cannula, Smartlipo is classed as a minimally invasive procedure that is performed under local anaesthesia, with the patient conscious at all times. The laser causes small blood vessels to coagulate immediately on contact, resulting in less bleeding, swelling and bruising, - and a quicker recovery time than conventional liposuction. Because general anaesthesia is unnecessary, the procedure is very safe with minimal side effects. Who is a good candidate for the procedure? If you have areas of fat that will not respond to diet and exercise, then you may be a suitable candidate for Laserlipolysis. Ideal candidates are in good health, of normal body weight and have realistic expectations of final results. What body areas can be treated with Laser Lipolysis? Laser Lipolysis is not a replacement to traditional liposuction or vibration assisted liposculpture. Laser Lipolysis is particularly suited to treating small areas of the face, neck, arms, breasts (gynecomastia), abdomen, thighs, knees, calfs and areas of loose and flabby skin (floppy skin), including cellulite. How many treatment sessions are required? Generally, most patients, typically only require a single treatment. The treatment session will usually be of between 45-90 minutes for each area requiring treatment. Larger areas, such as the abdomen, buttocks and saddlebags may require further sessions after 8 - 12 weeks. What will I have to do following the procedure? Following the procedure, you will be required to wear a compression garment for several days to several weeks, depending on the body area treated. This garment will be provided by the doctor, on completion of the procedure and information will be provided on where you can purchase additional garments. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for a period of 1 week. Power showers and massage should be avoided for a period of 10 days. Will Laser Lipolysis improve Cellulite? The procedure will improve the body's shape and contour and smoothen the appearance of cellulite. How long will I have to wait to see results? Results can be seen as soon as a week with continued improvement over several months, this is due to the body absorbing the fat cells that have been treated with Laser Lipolysis. Final results will usually be apparent at around 2 - 4 months following the procedure. Are the results permanent? The number of fat cells present in adults is relatively stable, as adults do not create additional 'new' fat cells. When a person gains weight, the fat cells merely expand in size. Laser Lipolysis permanently removes the fat cells. Any future weight gain of fatty tissue should be deposited in areas where the procedure was not performed. Whats my first step?
