This page is an introdution to SmartLipo, a procedure to remove excess fat deposits, also known as Laser Lipolysis. More information can be found on our Laser Lipolysis page.

Liposuction has been performed for a number of years, providing patients with a means to remove fat deposits from areas such as the abdomen and thighs. Traditionally using hollow metal tubes inserted into the desired area with suction applied, unwanted fat deposits were removed permanently.
Later refined to vibration assisted liposculpture, smaller vibrating instruments are now used, the advantages are much less swelling and bruising and reduced recovery times. SmartLipo is an alternative to vibration assisted liposculpture. The SmartLipo laser causes the membrane of fatty tissue cells to break, transforming them into an oily substance which is absorbed and naturally eliminated by the body.
Due to the small size of the hollow metal tubes used, SmartLipo is classed as a minimally invasive procedure that is performed under local anaesthesia, with the patient conscious at all times.
SmartLipo is suited to treating small areas of the face, neck, arms, breasts, abdomen, thighs, knees and calfs.
SmartLipo is also known as Laser Lipolysis, further information on Laser Lipolysis can be found here.
SmartLipo can be performed at either of our clinics in Newcastle or Sunderland.
