SKIN TREATMENT & PROCEDURES
The skin or ‘cutaneous membrane’ is the body’s first line of defence against attack and the environment, Waterproof and germ proof there are two parts to the skin, the epidermis and the dermis. The bit we see is the epidermis. Most of the epidermis is made from dead skin cells. The living cells at the base of the epidermis rise to the surface of the skin and harden, eventually providing us with the outmost layer of skin. The lower level living cells contain melanin, that’s the pigment, which gives the skin its colour and also helps protect it from harmful rays from the sun.
The bottom layer of the skin known as the dermis is filled with blood cells. This is the part of the skin in which our hair follicles sweat and nerve endings are found.
