Fraxel Laser Treatment
he Aesthetic Beauty Centre is the only UK provider of a new, advanced, Fraxel laser treatment (June 2005).
Fraxel Laser Treatment systematically improves skin tone, smoothing out fine lines and evens out skin discoloration, by treating minute sections of the skin. This type of selective treatment causes collagen, the protein that provides both structure and support to the skin, to regenerate while not affecting the remainder of the skin's surface. The laser delivers energy deep into the dermis (skin) in thousands of small dots, leaving the surrounding areas unaffected. These unaffected areas help speed up the healing process while the treated areas promote skin improvement (rejuvenation).
The fundamental difference between Fraxel Laser Treatment and more traditional ablative methods is that Fraxel does not affect all of the skin at once. Instead of a blanket surface treatment, affecting the entire skin surface in conventional Laser procedures, Fraxel treats pinpoint areas on the skin, penetrating small fractions, just deep enough to stimulate significant collagen regeneration. These microscopic treated areas begin to regenerate collagen and the surrounding non-affected areas help to speed up the body’s natural recovery process.
Fraxel Laser Treatment can be administered on any part of the body, its use is not limited to facial treatments. Delicate skin suffering from damage due to sun exposure on the neck or chest can be easily treated. The end result is impressive change to fine lines and wrinkles and a smoothing out of skin tone and colour with virtually no down time (Recovery time).
A typical Fraxel Laser treatment is performed in a single session, following a consultation with a doctor. The skin is cleansed and then a solution is applied to the treatment area. Local anaesthesia may be applied to increase patient comfort during the procedure.
The Laser Treatment head is passed over the surface of the desired area. There is very little discomfort associated with the treatment. Most patients report a mild prickly sensation during treatment that stops as soon as the treatment session is complete.
A typical Fraxel treatment programme involves between 2 – 5 procedures, spaced 1 – 2 weeks apart. The number of sessions depends upon the individual patient and the condition undergoing treatment.
Due to the nature of Fraxel treatment, on completion of a treatment session, patients are free to resume their normal activities
- Fraxel Laser Treatment is effective for the treatment of:
- Skin rejuvenation

Treatment Results
Fraxel Laser Treatment can be successful in minimising fine lines and wrinkles as well as an ablative laser peel and evens out skin discolorations caused by the sun or ageing. As Fraxel Laser Treatments are based on the regeneration of collagen, the ultimate results will not be visible for about six months after treatment. However, most people begin to notice positive changes to their skin within about a week and the improvements continue for about six months.
